South Saskatchewan Regional Plan

July 23, 2014

The Land Use Framework (LUF) divides the province into seven regions based on major watersheds, one of which is the South Saskatchewan, for which the final version of a new regional plan was released on July 23, 2014. (For more information about AWA’s participation in Alberta’s LUF planning process click here). Although the plan demonstrates a few positive strategic directions, AWA has many concerns where we believe it fell short. Various management frameworks and sub-regional plans are prescribed by the SSRP and remain to be released over the following years. The SSRP will be subject to review and modification at 5-year intervals.

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.

Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.
The winds will blow their own freshness into you,

and the storms their energy,
while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.
