What do you want to know from West Fraser?

Late last year, logging company West Fraser bought Spray Lake Sawmills, the company originally behind the logging plans in the Upper Highwood in Kananaskis, West Bragg Creek, and Horse Lake/Aura Creek. West Fraser has since announced it would be putting the Upper Highwood logging project on pause for this season. Concerns about what will happen next still linger.

West Fraser and it’s subsidiaries hold long-term forestry tenure (20-year Forest Management Agreements, or FMAs) covering a large part of Alberta’s forests. These tenure areas include Kananaskis, Livingstone-Porcupine, the Ghost watershed, and boreal forests in northern Alberta. West Fraser also holds timber quotas in other areas.

Join AWA on April 30 at 6 p.m. at our Calgary office (or over Zoom) where we’ll host representatives of West Fraser. The company plans to give a short presentation and then AWA will ask questions that have been submitted by registrants.

More info about the speakers here.

Please register for the event below and send any questions you’d like to ask about the company’s forest management practices using the form below PRIOR to the event.

A healthy relationship to the wilderness is not in the least incompatible with civilized living. Indeed, I believe it to be an indispensable condition thereof; that no man is truly civilized unless he is involved in and cares for the wilderness.
