AWA Comments on the Alberta Draft Bull Trout Recovery Plan

July 5, 2021

Please click the link below to view AWA’s comment letter addressing the draft Alberta Bull trout Recovery Plan, which was released by the Government of Alberta (GoA) for public feedback between May 11th to June 13th, 2021.

Bull trout are listed as Threatened at the federal level under the Species at Risk Act (SARA), and any species listed as threatened on Schedule 1 of SARA (on non-federal lands) fall under the primary jurisdiction of the respective provincial or territorial government. The draft recovery plan seeks to satisfy this jurisdictional obligation by the GoA and the Ministry of Environment and Parks (AEP).

AWA is pleased to report that we successfully submitted a letter to the GoA outlining our thoughts on the proposed strategy, and our response can be read through the link below.

With rare exception cattle ranchers have been the best of guardians of the land entrusted to them. May we continue to be conscientious caretakers of this precious resource and hand it on to another generation unspoiled.
