Hydro Project to Diminish the Mighty Peace

August 1, 2008

Wild Lands Advocate article, August 2008, by Chris Wearmouth. Wearmouth looks at the site of Glacier Power’s proposal to erect an 11-metre-high dam across the width of the Peace River two kilometres upstream of Dunvegan Provincial Park.

If I were asked to illustrate a scene of utter serenity and peace, I would choose a picture of a mother grizzly wandering across flower-covered slopes with two small cubs gamboling at her heels. This is truly a part of the deep tranquility that is the wilderness hallmark.
