AWA News Release: Government Violates Guidelines and Allows Further Destruction of Endangered Caribou Habitat

January 22, 2008

It has been recently learned that government continues to permit industrial use in these intact areas, including the Little Smokey Range, where a caribou herd is at immediate risk of elimination. Government refuses to give out information on where the use is occurring.

When citizens and their representatives in government fail to place a high value on wilderness as a resource in itself, then its disappearance – especially in reasonably accessible locations – is swift and certain.
