Suncor’s Fort Hills Oil Sands Project – Integrated Plan Amendment Application

The Fort Hills Oil Sands Project – Integrated Plan Amendment (IPA) Application was submitted to the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) on February 9, 2022, by Suncor Energy on behalf of Fort Hills Energy Corporation.

A copy of the IPA Application was provided Alberta Wilderness Association by Suncor following an information request to the AER.

According to Suncor’s cover letter:

“Suncor Energy Operating Inc., on behalf of the Fort Hill Energy Corporation, by its limited partner Fort Hills Energy L.P. is requesting amendment of OSCA Approval No. 92411, EPEA Approval No. 151469-01- 00 (as amended), Water Act Approval No. 151636-01-00 (as amended) and Water Act Licence No. 190012-01-00 (as amended) to:

  • Update mine, tailings and life of mine closure plans; and
  • Adjust Fort Hills Oil Sands Project boundaries to accommodate infrastructure in support of mine development

This application is made in accordance with section 13 of the Oil Sands Conservation Act and the content of the Integrated Plan Amendment Application follows the EPEA Guide to Content for Energy Project Applications (AER 2014), and Draft Directive 023: Oil Sands Project Applications (ERCB 2013).”
