What’s Your 60 – Sponsor Jim Campbell
I am a long-time AWA volunteer and Board member. I began my career working in Outward Bound programs, and my enthusiasm remains for myriad outdoor activities – backpacking, canoeing, birding, and cross-country skiing.
Of all the causes I support, none surpass my commitment to the mission of the Alberta Wilderness Association. I arrived in Alberta in September, 1977 and a few days later found myself canoeing from Lake Louise to Banff. Gazing on the snow-capped mountains, the golden larches, and stunning blue water I decided that I could never find more beautiful scenery. Wild Alberta has held me here ever since. After a lifetime of adventures in Alberta, the conservation of our wildlife and wild places is the greatest legacy I want to pass on to my grandchildren.
My “What’s My 60?” will ensure I indulge in my favourite activities through the course of 2025.
- Backpack 60 km including the Skyline Trail in Jasper National Park
- Paddle 60 km on the Bow River from Cochrane to Carseland
- Ski 60 km in the parks and places in and around Calgary
- Identify 60 species of birds over the course of 2025
