Adventure for Wilderness – Urban Sketch Walk at St. Patrick’s Island, a Jane’s Walk
Do you like to draw? Do you like nature? Grab some colored pencils and paper and join kid book illustrator & author Carolyn Fisher and Alberta Wilderness Association conservation specialist Sara Heerema at St. Patrick’s Island for 2 hour walk with frequent stops to sketch. All ages and levels of experience welcome. Kids must be accompanied by an adult.
For this nature sketchwalk, we’ll draw to observe nature and humans living side by side. We’ll look at the ways that industrial activities affect watersheds. And we’ll find out how waterways shape our land and our lives. We’ll jot our impressions and play creative games while taking a leisurely wander through St. Patrick’s Island in the Bow River. At the end of the walk, we’ll stroll across the bridge to a local coffee shop.
This walk is held in conjunction with the Alberta Wilderness Association, which hosts regular events in order to celebrate and conserve Alberta’s natural spaces (https://albertawilderness.ca).
WALK NOTES: Steep slopes, uneven terrain, busy sidewalks, fun for kids, no dogs please – except service dogs, breaks offered along the way, will use voice amplication.
WALK MEETING SPOT: Exact Spot TBA (to be announced) to registrants
