ENGOs to Federal Environment Minister: Concerns with SARA s. 11 Conservation Agreements

March 15, 2018

A letter to Environment and Climate Change Canada’s Minister from six environmental groups seeking assurance that conservation agreements provided for in section 11 of the Species at Risk Act (SARA) will not be misused to mask provincial inaction. The groups – Alberta Wilderness Association, Canadian Wildlife Federation, David Suzuki Foundation, Ecojustice, Ontario Nature, and Wilderness Committee – ask the federal government to ensure that the provinces do the necessary work to achieve minimum caribou habitat requirements and protect critical habitat.
