Confirming the Neonicotinoid Threat, Business Takes an Important Small Step

September 2, 2014

Wild Lands Advocate article, July 2014. Ian Urquhart. With increasing evidence of negative effects experienced by terrestrial invertebrate populations associated with neonicotinoid pesticides on pollinators and other terrestrial invertebrates, plant suppliers are opting to take steps to reduce further impacts. In addition to several United States nurseries banning use of the pesticides in their products, major home improvement retailer, The Home Depot, will label any neonicotinoid-treated plants by autumn of 2014. Friends of the Earth Canada is making an effort to petition Canadian retailers to ban the use of pesticides in their operations as well.
