Fly South Young Grouse

August 1, 2012

Wild Lands Advocate article, June 2012, by Ian Urquhart. Urquhart casts envious eyes over the hopeful future for sage-grouse in the U.S., which puts Canada’s miserable sage-grouse recovery process to shame.

“If the few Alberta sage-grouse left had a choice, they should try to book passage south on the translocation train. In several ways the situation south of the border looks much more promising for the recovery of greater sage-grouse populations than it does here.

There is an urgent need to engage people with nature. All aspects of it. Not just the pretty bears and cute snakes. Also the realities of it, the death, struggles, and pain. Not only are people losing touch with nature, they are losing touch with the realities of nature.
