Join AWA for a talk night with members of the Alberta Grazing Leaseholders Association. Crown lands under grazing dispositions have a history embedded in stewardship and these lands are managed through a partnership between the province and the rancher. This presentation will touch on the history of why we have grazing leases and what it means to the ranchers who operate on Crown lands under grazing disposition.

About the Speakers:

Kyle Forbes

Kyle is a third-generation rancher from Southeastern Alberta, proudly continuing his family’s legacy of stewarding native grasslands and managing grazing leases that have been in the family for decades. Raised with a deep respect for the land, Kyle has committed himself to sustainable ranching practices, ensuring the health and vitality of the grasslands for future generations. His passion for ranching extends beyond cattle, as he also devotes time to raising and working with his team of heavy horses, a tradition he holds dear.

Outside of the ranch, Kyle is an active member of his local community. He is a dedicated 4-H leader for his kids’ 4-H club, where he helps youth develop leadership skills and foster their connection to agriculture. Kyle is known for his strong work ethic, love for his family, and deep-rooted commitment to both his community and the land he calls home.
