Adventure for Wilderness – Save Bow River Parks – Glenbow and Haskayne Dam Site Visit

with Jeromy “Pathfinder” Farkas, CEO, Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation

September 25, 6 p.m.
Haskayne Legacy Park
5 km, Difficulty: Easy (this adventure is wheelchair and stroller accessible)

Join us for an evening of advocacy and education at Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park and Haskayne Legacy Park.

Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation will host guests on a walking tour of the parks while discussing the proposed Glenbow Dam, which threatens to destroy this cherished landscape.

This event is a call to action for all who love the park and want to ensure its preservation for future generations. We’ll have experts on hand to share insights, answer questions, and guide participants through ways to effectively advocate for solutions to address flood and drought protection for Calgary.

We will gain valuable knowledge about the environmental impact of the proposed dam and learn how to actively participate in efforts to protect Glenbow Ranch and Haskayne Legacy Park. This is a unique opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals and take a stand for conservation and responsible watershed management.

Together, we can make a difference!

Jeromy “Pathfinder” Farkas is the CEO of the Glenbow Ranch Park Foundation (GRPF).

Following a second-place finish in the 2021 Calgary mayoral election, Jeromy earned the trail name “Pathfinder” on his 5,000-km fundraising trek from Mexico to Canada for Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Calgary.

Known for his grassroots advocacy, Jeromy is now focused on protecting and expanding park space and conservation areas in the greater Calgary area. His next major project is the construction of a large network of trails connecting Calgary and Cochrane, aiming to welcome over 1 million users per year as part of the coast-to-coast Trans Canada Trail.

Details of meeting place will be emailed to registered participants a few days before the event.

We simply need that wild country available to us, even if we never do more than drive to its edge and look in. For it can be a means of reassuring ourselves of our sanity as creatures, a part of the geography of hope.
