The greater sage-grouse is Alberta’s most endangered species and, with only 13 males left, the time for action is now! The cause of this rapid decline is well known. As sage-grouse habitat continues to be destroyed and degraded, the dwindling population continues to decline. The science is clear about how desperate the situation really is, but science alone isn’t going to save the species. AWA strongly believes that helping more people understand the issues will bring more meaningful debate and pressure to move swiftly with positive actions for greater sage-grouse. In response to provincial and federal government inaction, AWA is working hard to bring awareness to the plight of this iconic prairie bird but we need all the help we can get.
