Saturday, March 7, 2020
Doors 7PM | Music 7:30 PM
AWA Cottage School (455 12 Street NW Calgary)
$20

Heather Blush and The Uppercuts are a group of rogue troubadours based in Calgary, Alberta. Sassy, sultry, and just plain fun, they perform original songs designed to knock your socks off!  With energetic, audience-engaging shows, Heather is quickly becoming known for songwriting that covers all bases between witty sarcasm and gutwrenching honesty.  With “Captain” Steve Hazlett on drums, and “Duellin’ Dale Ulan” on upright bass, Heather Blush and The Uppercuts pack a punch and leave a lasting impression.

Whether they’re singing a traditional song from the British Isles or a modern song that sounds like it could be trad, The Key of H brings life to all their music through energetic vocals and engaging instrumentation. Doug Baker (guitars, vocals) and Michael Pollock (mandolins, concertina, violin, vocals) are skilled musicians who have been part of the Calgary music scene for many years in a variety of groups (Twisted Roots, Tessitura, Diminished Fifth, Sunday Nite Band). They tell fascinating stories that will make you tap your feet, sing along, laugh and perhaps get a little emotional.

No public hearings are scheduled. Only one Alberta organization, the Alberta Wilderness Association, is independent enough that it continues championing public land and the people's right of access to it. So people must speak individually, as they have so many times before, directly to the premier, the minister of Sustainable Resource Development and their MLA, and remind them of what public land means to all of us, that none of it is surplus to our needs, that we do not want it sold.
