Porcupine Hills
$25 AWA Members/ $50 Non-Members

 Situated between the mountains and the prairies and located east of Claresholm , the Porcupine Hills are a unique area.  The area gets its name from the ancient Douglas-fir and pine trees that populate the crests of the hills.

You will have the chance to learn about the history of the region, rest for a moment under a magnificent Douglas-fir, see this ecoregion and learn about present day threats and the progress made on protecting this critical piece of public land.

Difficulty: Moderate to challenging hilly terrain and lovely flowered slopes; good hiking shoes required and long pants recommended
Elevation Gain: 300 m
Distance: 5 km return
Estimated duration of hike: 3 hours
