The Foothills Restoration Forum sponsors a wind energy and native
prairie field tour and workshop. The workshop follows from another
workshop in February 2010 to consider improvements to the Wildlife Guidelines for Alberta Wind Energy Projects
(Alberta SRD, 2006). Since then a working group of government,
industry, environmental consultants and conservation interests has been
compiling background information on policies, principles, guidelines
and practices that have been used by other industry sectors to minimize
disturbance on native prairie. The document Minimizing Disturbance of Alberta's Native Prairie by Wind Energy Development is reviewed and discussed. |
