2012-06-01 (Camping Trip) Orchids in the Lakeland
A weekend to enjoy and appreciate of the beauty of Alberta's boreal forest environment.

Spend a summer weekend in Alberta's boreal forest near Lac La Biche while we look to explore the Lakeland Provincial Park, where there is an abundance of migratory birds and large spruce and aspen. Aaron Davies will lead day hikes in search of the orchids that can be found in this special habitat. Easy walking, good company, nature’s beauty; all in some of Alberta's remarkable outdoor places.
In early summer, the woods are alive with the songs of warblers and other neotropical migrants. Explore beautiful old growth forest in northeast Alberta’s central mixedwood boreal region.
Please Note: You do not need to be an experienced orchid specialist; novices are very welcome. Hikes will be a maximum of 6 kilometres with minimal elevation gain.
Camping sites are available in Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park, near Lac La Biche.
You must supply your own camping gear and food for the weekend. A few weeks before the event AWA will be sending more detailed information to all registered participants.
