Situated in the Red Deer River valley, the dry island is a very unique piece of the central Alberta landscape. Descend into the river valley, then climb to the top of the dry island; a place that is untouched by the human activity surrounding it.

Elevation Gain: 200 m

"Dry Islands" are unique erosional remnants in the beautiful Red Deer River valley.  Climb to the top, 200 metres above the waters of the Red Deer River.  Experience the stunning views, including an ancient buffalo jump.  Keep your eyes open - you might discover the astoundingly old bones of an Albertosaurus!

Please Note: This hike is rated as Moderate, extending approximately 8 kilometres with an elevation gain of about 200 metres (650 feet).
