2010-03-23 (Talk) Pussy Willows and Flashes of Blue: Spring Has Arrived!

— filed under:

Bluebird conservation is alive and well due to the many efforts of local conservationists.

Bluebird lovers who build and maintain nesting boxes are contributing enormously to the conservation of this beautiful bird species. Coupled with a very active program to band these birds, we are becoming increasingly informed about their nesting habits and distribution througout southern Alberta.  Marijke Jalink-Wijbrans and Don Stiles will team up to describe the joys, heartbreaks and science of bluebird conservation.

Marijke Jalink-Wijbrans came to Canada from the Netherlands in 1965 and, along with her husband, has monitored a bluebird trail since 1988.  Don Stiles has been active with Nature Calgary since 1976, monitors his own trail and coordinates other bluebird trails in the Calgary area.
