Letters to the Editor

Sending letters to the editor of your newspaper is often an effective way of raising the profile of an issue, and letting politicians know that it is something the public cares about.

This is not only true of the large-circulation national newspapers; local community papers are also a good and often more accessible way to start that process. Letters printed in local newspapers can start the conversation, which finds its way into other newspapers, and into the broader arena of discourse.
